E-Learning Design
Challenges for Adults

Overview

Product: Instructor-led training session.

Client: Portland Bible College

Problem: I was asked to coordinate professional development workshop sessions for the Faculty and Online Facilitators at Portland Bible College. These learners needed ongoing information to support their teaching. Discussions with the main stakeholder and informal surveys and interviews were performed to establish learner needs and motivations. Possible topics were outlined and presented to the stakeholders for approval. The planned professional development sessions were divided into categories of (1) instructional design, (2) learner analysis, (3) classroom management and (4) course specific content.

Solution: A range of sessions were created for the in-person workshops. In this instance, E-learning design challenges faced by adults was the topic chosen. I decided to use scenario-driven activities to create discussions and provide information on the top five design challenges adults face to equip the staff with real world applications for the topic.
